I’m pleased to bring you this month’s Podcast show. Apologies’ for the lack of episodes on the last month or so but i was moving studio location.

Well for those of you still here, as you can see I’ve decided to start the show up again. Although this time round there is some changes in place.

From now on, there shall be no extra Monthly Guest Mix Podcast unless i decide to invite someone to play randomly, i shall be producing my own mix as usual only this time it’s going to be all about what I’m currently playing and listening to. I understand by doing this I’m going to loose quite a few of my past listeners , but at least I’ll know the one’s who stay are enjoying the direction I’m taking my shows instead of what i think listeners will like to hear.

No more Big Room House or Electro i’m affraid. Just lot’s and lots of Deep , Tech, House, Progressive and Techno.

Stepping up to the Special Guest Dj spot this month is a well know spin doctor on the EDM scene in Perth, a regular on festival line ups and a dj who has made his popularity grow throughout the Perth club scene, we welcome at very short notice too……..    Travis LeBrun.

For those of you who enjoyed the epic guest mix from Vengeance a few months back, you’re going to love this 1hr mix of Heavy Electro /Dubstep goodness. Thanks again to Travis for putting together a blinding mix for us a short notice.

Travis LeBrun started his music career off growing up playing guitar in Indi punk bands but as his love for dance music grew he found him self behind the decks and started exploring the possibilities of mixing digital music. After only a few months of mixing he made it to the finals in one of Perth’s premier DJ competitions “Into the Limelite” and went on to earn himself residencies at some of Perth’s most iconic party venues, The Red Sea, Bar Open and Contacio to name a few as well as appearances at some of Perth’s biggest festivals, STEREOSONIC and SUMMADAYZE!!

LeBrun likes to mix things up, playing a wide variety of house but with down right dirty electro roots as well as hip hop and old school punk influences he manages to produce a rather unique and down right crazy sound. 2012 has already been a big year for LeBrun playing some of Perth’s best venues such as Flawless, Niche Bar, The Leederville Hotel and many more.

Currently holding residency at one of Perth’s hottest new nightclubs, Flawless Nightclub in Subiaco, as well as his production work being looked upon with great interest, he is one that labels should definitely keep an eye on…

Hey guys and welcome to this months guest mix installment.

First up I want to give thanks again to our last guest dj from Adelaide , Paul Marshman for doing such a wicked guest mix in April , and id also like to appologise to there not being a mix available for May, unfortunately our guest dj pulled out last minute due to family reasons and there was no time to organize another dj mix.

On that note, I am very pleased to announce this months guest dj mix has come from a very talented and fast rising star from Sydney who is not only a fantastic dj at the style he plays, but is also a very talented Producer. You only have to hear some of his tracks in his mix to concur. Thanks a lot for being part of the ever growing amaizing dj’s we have on the show, I know the listeners are gona love this mix.

This month, it’s all about I AM SAM !!!!!!

What do the movie I Am Sam and the self confessed music geek I Am Sam have in common? Absolutely nothing! But you can bet, like the movie, this Dj, producer and remixer is heading towards the same legendary status.

There is no doubt that the electronic dance music scene’s eyes and ears firmly set on I Am Sam’s next move. With in a short amount of time, I Am Sam has risen from a local disc jockey and aspiring music producer to a national DJ, international producer and top notch remixer. If his formative years are anything to go by, then we sure are in for an amazing journey.

I Am Sam’s previously saw him attain some impressive feats. In the year 2010 alone, he managed to score a total of 5 ARIA Club chart entries for remixes and originals, including a #1 for his remix of Zoe Badwi – Freefallin as well as it featuring in the UK Club chart Top 20. He was asked to officially re‐make the legendary ‘Down Under 2011’ by Men At Work which received commercial and club radio success as well as it being signed in 6 countries internationally. Add to that, a remix bag for Sarah McLeod, Pablo Calamari (Act Yo Age), P Money, Terri B, Dave Manna, Venuto, Ben Morris, to name a few, and its clear, that this spec wearing DJ is here for the long haul.

But, it’s in 2011 that I Am Sam has given the international house scene a bit of a shimmy and shake. First off was a feature in the official 2011 ITM DJ awards Top 50, then it was the his original masterpiece, I Am Sam – Touch The Sky featuring in the Australian Club Chart Top 50 and being supported by the likes of David Guetta (Radio), Paul Van Dyk, Kid Massive, Till West and the Billboard 100. Hed Kandi Australia also noticed the rapid rise of this talented DJ and were quick to snatch I Am Sam up as their national resident DJ and headline act. The I Am Sam soundwaves rippled across the globe, first with Ministry Of Sound Radio UK, jumping on board the wave and featuring him as a guest DJ on their Hed Kandi Show, then MTV UK producer head hunting I Am Sam to feature in an upcoming reality show, My Super Sweet World Class.

In 2012 alone I Am Sam has had a Top 10 ARIA Club chart hit with The Real Thing, collaborating with rock goddess Sarah McLeod as well as a Top 50 entry for his latest track BLAH!. He has supported Adrian Lux, His Majesty Andre as well as a host of others, as he embarks on an Australian Tour.

Hi and welcome this months TechTasticlly good Podcast show . I’ve delved deep into the blog pages this month and come up with a rather epic percussive mix for you this month.

It’s a bit of a showcase really of what you can expect to hear from myself and the other top Dj acts at my new House Night launch party called “Get Funkd”  @ The Deen Nightclub , Northbridge, Western Australia  on 26th May.   Really hop ethos listeners over this side of the pond can come along and feel the vibe. Welcome back to the podcast show, this month i’ve decided to let you hear the darker side of my musical tastes. April mix is all about the TECHNO, lots of big dark driving builds in this one. Obviously not to everyones taste, but that’s what the show is all about, keeping the genres changing .

Welcome back to the Podcast Show for this months instalment of the Guest Dj Slot.

Each month I try find new Australian talent that i can showcase on the Podcast show and most importantly keep the genres of the guest mixes diverse. This month is no different, and it’s with great pleasure i can introduce to you VALLE ZOO a.k.a. Nathan Francis and Mitchell Smith, a new duo from Perth W.A. currently making big waves in Australia’s underground dance scene , pushing the boundary’s with their  eclectic sound of Deep House and Future House.

Valle Zoo was formed in the early part of 2011, by Tech-House enthusiasts Mitchell Smith & Nathan Francis. Both have been successful as DJ’s in Perth, Western Australia as well as gaining recognition in the Eastern States of Australia. Nathan took home the 2010 PDMA Best Tech House DJ award, with Mitchell winning the hugely coveted Habitat DJ Competition early 2010.The pair looked to develop their love for the Tech House genre by bridging the gap between Deep Tech, Tech-House,Techno and decided to combine their talents and begin work on Valle Zoo. With some experience already having releases on Uranobeat Records, Eastarea Records among others, Mitchell brought the programming experience, with Nathan bringing creativity and structuring techniques. Since then, Valle Zoo has evolved, having been signed by European label ‘Smiley Fingers’ and local label ‘Obsactles Recordings’. Since forming they have played along side some of the best in the industry during the recent summer, playing at the Stereosonic festival and the Future music festival. The pair have an upcoming 3 track EP due out shortly and they are very excited to once again unleash their brand of music on the world.

Welcome back to the GavT podcast show. In 2004 he burst onto the scene after winning the inaugural ‘Punters Choice’ competition for up-and-coming DJs at Ambar.

His popularity pushed the kid in the cap in to a regular spot at Ambar, cementing his reputation. Marty is known in the scene as one of the cleanest cutters and scratchers around; just ask Jurassic 5 and Rahzel, who he played in-between on the Good Vibrations festival lineup.

Marty oozes the two big e’s; excellence and energy through every set he plays. Marty can also be seen most weekends as part of Japan 4 and the Break-A-Holics Anonymous (BAA) crew; not to mention Boomtick’s Parklife and Breakfest.

A new year, a new vibe, and to kickstart the first of the exclusive guest mixes for the year  its with great pleasure to have MALTA’S #1 DJ , RUBY GRIMA here to showcase his dj talents this month in preparation for his Australian Tour this February.

Having watched and heard Ruby on numerous occasions whilst holidaying in the amazing sunny party island of Malta, i knew when i heard he was touring this year we just had to get him involved in the show. This mix is nothing short of genius, and all you progressive tech lovers out there are going to melt when you here Rubys dj talents.With over 20 years experience in djing/producing and hosting some of the worlds biggest dance partys in history for an avid crowd, its no wonder this man is in high demand and sitting very comfortably as Malta’s #1 DJ. RUBY – A BIOGRAPHY

Intro

In the comparatively insular yet highly active Maltese clubbing scene, the talents you find

behind every DJ stand within this little but full-blooded archipelago of islands bang in the

middle of the Mediterranean are nothing short of talented and promising. However, talent

and promise are attributes that can only be judged properly by none other than Malta’s

fervent dance community. If you had to come over and ask these very same clubbers who is

the first DJ that comes to mind, chances are that the monosyllabic reply “Ruby” comes out

without a nuance of hesitation. And why you may ask? Because simply put, DJ Ruby is the

most ardently followed DJ in the Maltese islands. Regardless of any sub-genre of Dance

music they listen to, many would admit that the delicate assumption of “No. 1 DJ” over here

is deservedly his, such is the consistency that this man has delivered to dancefloors

nationwide and worldwide too. What follows leaves no stone unturned in stating that Ruby is

not a name that has just been around for a smattering of months spreading himself as a

current but temporary flavour, but an institution that has evolved over two decades of hard

work, forward-thinking attitude and equally advanced talent laced with a passionate and raw

drive that none on this island have ever bettered. Fact.

The Beginning

From his humble beginnings in the game starting out with a mobile disco together with his

brother, it was the latter’s untimely passing away that made him quit from the mobile disco

business only to immediately return a much stronger and driven individual in tandem with a

mission that carried a musical torch inherited by his singer-songwriter parents, albeit in a

different format. The flame emanating from that torch was first noticed by one of the all-time

greats of the nascent and present local dance movement, David Dee, who spirited out Ruby

out of the first club he ever resided in (Swiss Chalet) to one of the biggest clubs there was at

the time, namely Generator. That was followed by further residencies within every club that

was pivotal to the Dance music explosion that took off in the Maltese islands in the early

90’s, namely Tremors, Miracles, and the still-influential Places in Malta’s main

entertainment Mecca Paceville, wowing everyone with his dexterity as well with his innate,

energetic grasp of dancefloor dynamics and party atmosphere. But Ruby wasn’t going to rest

of his laurels (as if such a term can be applied to his hectic schedule!) – he transferred those

very same qualities on the airwaves by simultaneously hosting a show on the late Live FM

radio station, playing an instrumental part in bringing Dance music further into the

mainstream in the process, as well as endearing him to a huge fan base that follows him

passionately everywhere he plays to this very day.

Working With International Artists

It would take a heftily-sized book to name Ruby’s full list of achievements here but, as

Malta’s dance scene moved on from strength to strength throughout the years right up until

now, Ruby was, is, and will always be consistent and present with any superstar international

DJ that visits Malta, and not to mention some of the leading lights he has shared the stage

with would be nothing short of a great injustice. To mention a few, Fatboy Slim, Prodigy,

Sasha, Paul Oakenfold, Tiesto, Carl Cox, Paul Van Dyk, Pete Tong, Armin Van Buuren,

Ferry Corsten, Hernan Cattaneo, Chicane and Faithless visits to Malta were all accompanied

by Ruby, as were a fair number of others found on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs list such as Steve

Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso, Erick Morillo, Roger Sanchez, Dave Seaman, Paolo Mojo,

Axwell, Steve Lawler, DJ Chus, Chris Liebing, Nick Warren, Desyn Masiello, Darren

Emerson, X-Press 2, David Morales, Frankie Knuckles, Nic Fanciulli and the list goes on

and on. When it comes to appearances with world-wide renowned dance music

organisations the list is equally impressive: He was a resident DJ at the regular Renaissance

events which where are held In Malta. Ministry of Sound, Pacha, Naughty but Nice, Cream,

Creamfields, Godskitchen, Space, Global Underground, Azuli, Progress, Miss Moneypennys,

Bora Bora, Tribal Gathering and even MTV have all also taken Ruby onboard on their stops

to this DJ’s native isles. The latest also granted Ruby the biggest gig of his career performing

for 40,000 people between pop giants Maroon 5 & Akon at the Isle Of MTV in July 2007.

Awards

A special mention must also go out to the numerous list of local awards that stem from his

inspirational performances both for radio and clubs from 1997 to 2003 – the year that had

seen Ruby win two awards: Best Club DJ at the Malta Music Awards, and Best House DJ at

the Malta DJ Awards. But the most prestigious of all came in 2004, when Ruby won “Malta’s

Most Popular DJ” by the notorious TV network – MTV. Ruby even scored big in the local

awards area, namely in the best remix category at the 2005 Bay Music Awards for his

interpretation of Ira Losco’s ‘Love Me Or Hate Me’. Own productions ‘Pure Stimulation’ &

‘Modulation Error’ where also nominated at the same awards event and the Malta Music

Awards in 2006 & 2007 respectively. Ruby went back on the winning podium in 2008 with 3

awards; at the BMA`s with his production of Malta’s biggest dance single of that year ‘Living

In The Dark’, winner of Best Artist Website at the MMA`s and Best Radio Jingles in the

world at the international ETAR awards. Come 2009 Ruby won again at the BMA’s with his

massive collaboration with Ira Losco; ‘Whats The Matter With Your Cabrio’. In 2010, saw

Ruby’s 4th, and 3rd consecutive BMA in a row for his ‘Get Out’ remix by Kristina Casolani.

A bigger award for Ruby was surely the 24 hour DJ marathon non stops sets he made to raise

funds for Malta’s biggest charity organization ‘Istrina’ in December of 2007 & 2008. Till

today Ruby is the only Maltese club DJ to have achieved a venture of this kind.

Internationally

However, these aforementioned awards do not seem to be rewarded solely on Ruby’s local

appearances alone. On the contrary, his hypnotic blend of grooves has taken him abroad

many a time, and as you read this, he might be spinning in a European club right now.

Ruby’s slew of European appearances took off back in January 1998 at Naughty But Nice in

Hereford’s Crystal Rooms back in the UK, where he shared the booth with John “00”

Fleming, Judge Jules, Scott Bond, Lisa Lashes and the late, great, Tony De Vit, followed

soon after by appearances across Germany and Eastern Europe for influential German label

MFS. His visits to Poland in particular saw crowds hit the roof with his regular sets at

Warsaw clubs together with the most prolific Progressive promoters in the country –

Sentence. Those appearances are complimented further with regular visits to Plovdiv, Sofia

and Sunny Beach in Bulgaria together with the Electrica DJ Team, the Balkan’s biggest

promoters. Another international residency was his bi-monthly appearance with Eternity in

Palermo, were his past gigs in the Sicilian Island already saw Ruby playing with Timo Maas,

Paolo Martini (Bini & Martini), The Pasta Boys and Alex Benedetti amongst others. The

Millenium Club in Bournemouth (UK) and Nightlife Club in San Antonio (Ibiza) were other

clubs Ruby has played at when his global gigs started to take off.

In June 2005 Ruby’s international career went on to another level! He joined Dutch

label/management ‘Fektive’ which now takes care of his international bookings. Debut gigs

with this renowned organisation where at Timewarp & Transmission festivals both held in

the Czech capital Prague, together with Sven Vath, Mauro Picotto, Marco V, ATB, Markus

Schulz, Above & Beyond and MIKE.

For these past 5 years Ruby’s diary has been more looking like an Atlas, he’s a headliner

regularly in Ukraine, Lithuania, Dubai, Hong Kong, Bulgaria, UK, Poland, Holland, Palm

Needless to say, publicity has been instrumental in elevating Ruby’s status. Besides the

endless glut of interviews, mentions of constant high praise bestowed on him by a press that

follows his every move as his fans do, even acclaimed European dance magazines seem to be

fascinated with Ruby including DJ Magazine (UK) featuring him in four separate issues.

Ruby has also put his fair share of journalistic work throughout the years via local music

publications Dansezee, Tune In, Juice magazines & recently on the interactive site DCode

with a monthly video blog.

He also holds the distinction of being the first Maltese ever to host a MTV Europe show, a

one-off edition of the hugely popular “The Dancefloor Chart” back in July 2002. February

2005 also saw famous German news TV station N24 featuring DJ Ruby on one of its popular

travel shows, showcasing Malta, its culture, its party scene and everything related to DJ

Ruby, his work and projects. Lately, he also was the host to local reality TV show DJ

Challenge and music TV show ‘Men In Black’ with Joseph Armani which is also featured as

a one off gig when they perform together.

Ruby’s status as a celebrity personality in Malta reached it speak in 2009 were his profile was

featured on the ever popular trump cards and played the main role in Malta’s biggest ever

blockbuster movie; Maltageddon.

Pure Promotions

As for promoting, this is where this multi-talented individual shines as brightly as he does in

his sets and earns his high standing within the Maltese Dance community… say hello to

Pure Promotions.

Co-owned and heavily driven by Ruby himself, since 1999 Pure Promotions events have

steadily risen, attained and maintained a standard which has many clubbers collect and trade

memories from every event that he has promoted like kids trade Pokemon cards! The

reasoning behind this surreal yet legitimate observation is simple – every Pure Promotions

event is a night where the DJs within these events walk out of the DJ booth mightily

impressed with the excellent organisation, packed out venues, as well as the lively

interaction between them and the eager and up-for-it local clubbers that are a staple feature

of Pure Promotions events throughout.

Pure legendary parties already featured renowned DJ`s & promoters of the likes of Paul Van

Dyk, Hernan Cattaneo, Daniel Portman, Desyn Masiello, John 00 Fleming, Dave Seaman,

DJ Chus, Joe T. Vanelli, Angello & Ingrosso, Nic Fanciulli, Dr. Kucho, Alex Neri, Wally

Lopez, Paolo Mojo, DJ San, Luke Chable, Thomas Penton, SNAP!, Renaissance & Space

amongst others. Together with an immense list of massive events, dance music shows,

themed parties and club nights such as the legendary Sunset Sundays and “Ruby & Friends”

bi-monthly nights which are the big cherry on top of a very luscious cake that defines twelve

years of influential yet unforgettable clubbing events by Pure Promotions under the lead of

the man himself.

The Present

The present sees Ruby streaming his schedule mostly to guest appearances both in Malta

and worldwide as a solo artist and as part of the National League duo DJ/VJ show together

with DJ San. His much-followed weekly “Ruby’s Vital Grooves” radio show in Maltese on

89.7 Bay Radio Malta and monthly in English on the world’s no.1 streaming network DI.FM

and as a podcast on iTunes are also a must listen for any dance fan out there.

Also of note is the cutting edge technology that Ruby applies to his performances – besides

being the first Maltese DJ to fully embrace Ableton Live, Ruby has also pioneered the use VJ

software in his sets. Recently DJ Ruby launched a new concept performance entitled Audio

Visual Perception featuring audio & visuals perfectly synchronised.

Production

Apart from being on top of the league in the DJ world and with two albums already under his

belt, Ruby is now also a recording artist with a vast list of regular underground releases,

Maltese no.1 hits and award winning tracks such as ‘Living In The Dark’, ‘Accident Prone

09’, ‘What’s The Matter With Your Cabrio’ and his own remixes of ‘Love Me Or Hate Me’,

‘Get Out’ & ‘I Need You’.

He also released four tracks under the National League imprint (together with Holland’s DJ

San); ‘2am’, ‘What Goes Around Comes Around’, ‘Don’t Touch That Dial & ‘Nightmoves’.

Happy new year mo fo’s.  Great to be back and kickstart the new year with some cracking jumping tech goodness by ur’s trully.

Its time to bring this year to a close and what an epic year its been for the show. We’ve had some seriously great music grace the ears of all you listeners out there and the guest dj’s just keep on stepping up the standards. Next year will be no different either, already have some seriously big announcements locked in for the first few months on 2012 with Januarys mix coming from an International Dj who will be Touring Oz in Feb.

Anyway, on with this months guest mix. I’ve asked the very talented Dj/Producer MORGAN BAKER all the way from Queensland to show us what he has to offer, and boy what a mix. I love this from start to finnish, maybe its because im crazy about tech house beats but yeh I don’t think u guys will be disappointed at all.

Brisbane DJ/Producer Morgan Baker has been on the grind since early 08’ when he was old enough for club appearances. Since then he has managed to spread his music love through Australian Festivals & Nightclubs for the past 3 years.

In the beginning, DJ competitions were the ‘go’, with a little bit on the line the motivation came through the speakers… After winning ‘Red Bull – Hit The Decks’ (Dj Comp) late 2008, he played his first festival slot, Summafield Dayze 09’. After that, Morgan took down GPO’s Discovered (DJ Comp) which followed a 2010 Splendor In The Grass set, as well as a fresh new pair of CDJ 2000’s. Since then he’s managed to play other major Australian Festivals such as; Parklife, Winter Sound System, Creamfields, Goodvibrations, Future Music Festival, Supafest & more… As well as a few International gigs, with a guest appearance on the Official Full Moon Party, Thailand.

Shared the bill with the likes of Goodwill, Anna Lunoe, Hostage, Congorock, Aston Shuffle, Bombs Away, Potbelleez, Sam La More, Basskleph, Timmy Trumpet, Hatiras, Drop the Lime, Kid Kenobi, The Staffords, Mighty Fools, Loot & Plunder, DCUP, D.I.M …. Just to name a few, and probably every queensland local you can think of…

2010 saw a good year for Morgan as he placed in Sony’s ‘In The Mix top 50’ as #46 Dj in Australia, #10 in QLD. 2011 saw an even better year, where both Morgan and his ‘partner in crime’ (BENIBEE) moved exactly 15 spots up the ‘In The Mix Top 50’, Leaving him with the prestigious postion of #5 DJ in QLD, following Tranceduecer, Benibee, Tydi & The Stafford Brothers.

Ho Ho Ho Ho, Where on earth has this year gone , thats all i can say. It’s been a very busy year for most, and the podcast has gone strength to strength. We’ve finally hit 8,500 listeners now, and im absolutely stoked to bits , so thanks to all the Guest dj’s we’ve had the oportunity of letting you hear , and most importantly , thanks to all the listeners for staying true and keeping in the loop of what’s going on on my show.

Hope you’ve been enjoying all the guest dj’s i’ve been selecting, i try keep it all varied each month, but as you will have noticed  most of my podcast mixes over the last few months have been more Tech house orientated ,thats just becasue i’ve found a groove that sticks with me well. Hope you’ve all been enjoying them though.

So on with this months show, after numerous requests for some Main Room House, i’ve decided to make my last mix of the year exactly that. Had fun Playing with Traktor Scratch Pro making thi smix, as you’ll hear you’ll find lots of accapellas wriggling  there way into several of the tracks , so i’ve made it more of a remix on the fly. By the end of his busiest Summer yet, he had warmed up for Ferry Corsten, Stoneface and Terminal and MaRLo, played Future Music Festival before Sander Van Doorn, tyDi and Cosmic Gate and had supported Sean Tyas, W& W, Jochen Miller, Ummet Ozcan and Gareth Emery.

April saw the memorable set with fellow local Adelaide Favourite DJ Frost at Planet Cream, the perfect warm up for Bart Claesson, Gabrielle and Dresden and Simon Paterson.

In July Andrew was forced with the decision to end his massively popular radio show The Dancefloor at Episode 200, which at the time was broadcasting on 10 radio stations globally and voted favourite radio show on FreshFM in his home town of Adelaide.

Not to disappoint, in August Andrew ranked behind only DJ Frost in the local trance component of the InTheMix DJ Awards for the year, ranking #5 in Adelaide and #43 in the Country. Banging sets at  Godskitchen, Subconsious and Trancefusion were shortly to follow, and a beautiful  90 minute warm up set at the Group Therapy Tour with DJ Solace before Jaytech and Above and Beyond  left Winter behind in style.

For now, Andrews eyes are focused on Stereosonic 2011, The FreshFM Naughty or Nice Christmas Party and Planet Cream 2012, where he will be able to play his own style of uplifting yet tech driven trance and progressive sounds to the masses.

Halloween is upon us and we are back with another Special Guest Dj mix, this month we have asked one of Queensland’s finest dj’s on the scene at the moment to step up to the plate and show us all why he was recently voted #3 best Dj in Queensland and #12 in Australia…… it’s Dj Bennibee bringing the noise !!!

Its great to bring more diversity to the show and im always a keen favourite to hear the latest Progressive/Electro beats,and Benni has done just that and more. Debuting at a healthy #27 in last year’s inthemix poll, it’s been nothing but up for Brisbane’s Benibee. With a strong background in music history after studying trumpet on a highschool scholarship, it’s no wonder he has the timing of a metronome and the energetic presence of a brass band. Its finally here, the anticipation is over. Welcome to this months latest offering from another one of Australia’s Top Dj’s, this month we’ve handed over the decks for 60 minutes for what is to be the darkest and most dirty, grimey, heavy electro to ever grace the show, and it comes from Sydney Dj/producer VENGEANCE!!!!!!!

This mix is exactly what I’m looking for when trying to bring new sounds to the show, and Vengeance couldn’t have done better!!!Congratulations mate on such a tight mix mate. I loved it and I know the listeners are going to rate this mix HARD!!!!! The Sydney based DJ/producer has been pushing his way into the international dance scene with great speed, playing alongside the likes of Steve Aoki, Boys Noize, and Skrillex.

Vengeance began producing music whilst still in high school and released his first original and remixed tracks in early 2008 under a number of different alias. Vengeance’s tracks add to any DJ’s set whilst also carrying radio appeal, and as a result are already being embraced by the club community as dance floor hits.

Having released his debut E.P. “Sweet Revenge” and recently following up with his “Nebulas EP” Vengeance is steadily becoming a well recognized and respected figure in the dance scene. His collaboration with Gigi Barocco “Me and my bitch,” was an international success, and with an already solid fan base, Vengeance’s popularity is guaranteed.

Bringing more diversity to the show this month, we asked Sydney Dubstep guru A-Tonez (a.k.a. Anthony Azzopardi) to the decks and show us just why he is making such a big name for himself around Australia both in clubs and major Dance festivals.

Its that time again when we ask one of Australia’s biggest and best to take to the decks and showcase there talents with an Exclusive Special Guest mix. This month I am very pleased to welcome the talentented Sydney Dj & Producer : Venuto to the show.

Over the past ten years, Venuto has unleashed his own distinct groove on dance floors across Australia. Growing in popularity, Venuto has stunned audiences at major events in Australia and abroad.

In 2008, Venuto took his unique sound to Ibiza, and became one of very few DJ’s granted the honour of playing at the world famous Amnesia nightclub.

The list of labels swarming to sign and release Venuto’s tracks is a testament to his appeal in the industry. Working with labels such as OneLove, Ministry of sound, Neon,Vicious, MN2S and Muzik X Press, it’s no wonder that he has built for himself his reputation as one of the most known and respected producers in Australia.

Venuto has released remixes for many world-class artists, such as Jason Herd, Ben Macklin, Roland Clark, Coloursound, Crazy White Boy, Javi Mula and Danism, Blacktron.

Following a massive year for Venuto in 2010 with his releases garnering recognition across the industry, 2011 is already proving to be a greater success with various international gigs headlining events such as The Electro Madness Tour Noumea , and at Spy Bar, New Zealand.

Peaking high on the ARIA club charts, Venuto’s ‘Love’ became an instant success with a remix package ft Sandy Rivera, Carl Tricks & Plastik Funk. Love was also featured on the Onelove album, ‘Smash your Stereo’.

Venuto’s collaboration with Ben Morris has seen The pair produce a number of original tracks and remixes which are Rocking Dance floors and major radio stations, both locally and internationally. Since the release of their first hit signed to Onelove, ‘Give it up’ feat. Hey folks, welcome back to this months latest Episode featuring a stomper of mix by myself. Firstly i’d like to apologise for there being no episodes available to download throughout June but i was on vacation in Scotland and had to take a month off the show. Anyway, because of this, my downloads folder has been over flowing with absolute bangers over the two months, so i decided to make this months ep 1hr 30min long because there is just too many banging tunes i need to let you hear, so i hope you appreciate this mix.

Landing on the scene in 2008, Aarin’s arrival seemed to be something of an amazing coincidence as Perth embarked on an EDM renaissance, spotted playing at a pub in one of Perth’s sleepy suburbs, he quickly cemented himself as a major force in the scene that would re-invigorate Perth’s stagnant nightlife.

Amazingly enough Aarin didn’t have piano lessons as a precious 6 year old or sieve through his parents extensive back catalogue of music classics, with his roots in Hip Hop, he ignored the currents fads and inspired by the infamous Delirium parties of the early noughties, immersed himself in the history and culture of Detroit’s Hi Tek Soul and Chicago House.

With his productions signed and being charted by some of the globes major players, his Dj sets in high demand for club and festival promoters the futur is looking bright for Aarin Fraser.

Getting straight down to business, Aarin F was next and he drew even more punters to the dance floor with his blend of upfront minimal and tech selections. Opting for some more refined and stripped back tracks to begin with, Aarin created a steady build before playing tune after tune of minimal goodness and had the whole club immersed in his set. Ahmet Atasever; Australia’s best kept secret unleashed. Claiming number 25 in the Australian ITM50 DJ poll he is definitely becoming one of the established stars in the Australian DJ Scene. Having spent early days in his career working behind Matt Darey and managing his label Darey Products, as well as his media affairs. Ahmet has moved on to become an icon himself creating his own sound and style through his productions and his podcast ‘Voyage to Valinor’.

Ahmet quickly made his way into the scene both nationally and internationally. Playing for world-renowned brands including, Sensation, Trance Energy, Gatecrasher, Godskitchen & Slinky not only in Australia but also abroad in China, Hong Kong & New Zealand. March is upon us, and what an event full start to the year it has been. With all the summer festivals coming to a close in Oz , we’ve been treated to some of the biggest and best live groups and dj acts the world has to offer, Ritchie Hawtin, Chemical Brothers, Sasha ect just to name a few. Apologies go out to my listeners of the show for the lack of episodes during February, but i was unable to produce these due to bereavement reasons from a loss of a very close friend, so this episode i would like to dedicate to my best friend Marc MacVicar who passed away.

On a lighter note, this months Guest mix is locked in, and we have a treat for the listeners this month as we step towards our first ever Trance genre on the show, compiled by none other than Dj Ahmet Atasever from Victoria. Welcome back to the podcast, a new year , and we are officialy 1 year old this month. Firstly i just want to thank all the subscribers and fans to the podcast for all your support and help in making the podcast as popular as it is today, cant have done it with out your word of mouth and spreading the word. So, on with this months Special Guest mix episode, seeing as we are now 1 year old, i decided it only right to welcome back our first ever Guest mix dj to the show, Dj Romy Black a.k.a. MARS ! Its been a year since we have heard from Mr B on the Gavt Podcast, and what a year it has been! With Originals getting signed, Music Videos and a few remixes in the bag , he’s been a busy boy for someone who has had to step back and make his passion partime for the time being! I personally am a big fan of Kristian’s music ethic, and always love hearing him playing live showcasing his many talents behind the decks. As you can read on, you will see why Kristian is being recognized globally across the dance music world, a regular at all major dance festivals in OZ and a true dedicated producer, he already has a very impressive Discography to his name which doesn’t look like will be slowing down any time soon and hot off the press i can reveal his new upcoming singles are : The Cut & Mind Electric feat Mr Fluff - LOUDER and also a banging collaboration; Demark & Manna & Mind Electric feat Max C - WILD OUT !!!!!

It is safe to say that 2010 has been explosive so far for Mind Electric with his productions receiving massive international support and his DJ sets doing serious damage in clubs around Australia.

Kristian Jackson, the mastermind behind Mind Electric, was discovered by the Vicious Label directors John Course and Andy Van (Vandalism, Madison Avenue) after his 3 year stint in Europe, where he rocked clubs in Hamburg (Germany) and Stockholm (Sweden).

He first made his mark in 2006 with his debut single Dirty Cash followed by many huge club hits such as Electrify and Infinity. His single Rock da house made it into Laidback Luke’s top 10 and his collaboration with ‘The Cut’ on Sweat sat firmly in the Beatport Electro House top 20 for months. “ZELIMIR” adj. : It’s all about the house music!! Croatian born, Fremantle raised, music tragic Zelimir has been addicted to making people jump and dance for the past 17 years. Having played at nearly every major club in Australia, Zelimir has been the one consistent in the ever changing Perth dance music scene.

If you can count passion by a DJ’s record collection, then at last count Zel is well over 18,000. His catalog of ranges from rare grooves and beach suite ambient to soulful, big tech house and banging big room records. He’s now decided its time to take the leap into production and with his first three releases getting great reviews from record labels such as CR2 and Toolroom Records it won’t be long until he breaks the glass ceiling and starts mixing it up with the bigger names of house music.

For the past few years now Zel has held down the Friday night residency at LIMELITE, W.A’s biggest house night. He’s played along side acts such as Axwell, Tocadisco, The Potbelleez, Dirty Laundry, Grant Smillie, John Course, Bad Boy Bill, The Stafford Brothers and at least another 100 acclaimed national and international acts. Other residencies are The Broken Hill Hotel ( AHA PUB of THE YEAR 2006 ), Euro Bar,Metro’s and The Deen. A regular on the decks at all major dance festivals, with such diverse gigs Zel’s can see where a crowd is and where it needs to go be.

Hi and welcome to this months SPECIAL GUEST MIX Episode. I am really excited and proud to announce that this months guest mix is from none other than Australia’s Pioneer “SHE DJ” KELI HART !!!!!!!!! Im sure you’ll all agree and understand exactly why when you hear this exclusive mix, KELI deserves the prestigious title and honnor of being the face of PioneerDj as an Australian Ambassador. Keli always knows how to fill a club and most importantly win the respect of many a clubber and dj who goes out to see her showcase her many many talents behind the decks, both in technique and in set arrangement. This mix is right up my street and i dont think i’ll be the only one who’ll be playing this set on repeat for months to come. After the success of Keli’s debut release, “Blast The Stereo feat. Hi and welcome back to our next installment. This months new episode features a Special Guest Mix by another one of Australia’s Top Dj’s currently smashing the scene around the club front, and its with great pleasure I introduce Sydney Dj Derty Rich to the podcast for an exclusive 1hr Guest Mix!

Rich can be found on regular hot spots around the ozy clubbing scene, causing chaos and breaking all the genre barriers. A real tight mix here Rich, well put together with a solid tracklist and nice builds, im glad we have someone play out some edgy minimal/tech on the show.

Since he exploded into the Austalian dance music circuit in 2008, Derty Rich has quickly established himself as one of the rising stars, prodigious talents and epic trashbags of that world. In this short time he has already ascended to support the likes of Adam Freeland, Mightyfools, AC Slater, The Aston Shuffle and Kelevra to name a few. He’s become a regular feature at the wildly popular Chinese Laundry, constantly blowing away packed crowds in his tenure there with his no holds barred blend of dance music that spans genres and yet still has that unmistakable Derty vibe.

What’s that Derty vibe? Music that takes control of you and makes you dance with it’s infectiousness. Music that has mad rhythm, sexy sounds and Derty bass. Any tune that has that little bit extra bump or bounce, Derty Rich will dig it up and throw it down for the party people that lap it up every time.

On top of regularly rocking the dancefloors of Sydney and Canberra, Rich also managed to find time to put on the outrageously successful ‘MRMEANR’ party series which continues to pack out the Chinese Laundry and send Sydney clubbers mental as it expands without sign of stopping. As if that weren’t enough, Rich’s production career alongside The Hump Day Project’s Steve Lind under their troublemaking alias N.O.C. is also blowing up. Ask any punter in Perth who Micah is and chances are they were probably rockin’ out to one of his sets last weekend. Micah has earned himself the reputation of one of Perth’s leading DJs, through his ability to get even the coldest of feet on the dance floor, his energy and enthusiasm behind the decks and through the burgeoning scene which has grown with him over the last decade.

Discovering a talent for a craft which he has come to live by, Micah embraced the DIY attitude of a young DJ fuelled by a burning desire to create and run events where he and his mates could showcase their talents, delivering to a party hungry niche in the market. The early 90’s saw Micah putting on small dance parties wherever he could find enough space or a venue that was willing to have him. Micah’s can do attitude saw his parties grow, one such effort culminating in a 2000+ free annual event in the Pine forests north of Perth. From 1997 to the year 2000 these underground parties became the highlight for many a punter, until the authorities stepped in.

Out of the Pines and into clubland, Micah and his mates embarked on a different approach, banding together to create what became known as the Awarehouse Crew. This ensemble were responsible for the increasingly popular Autophon nights held at Ambar Niteclub, continuing for good on two years. Whilst running and DJing at these night, Micah gained invaluable knowledge in reading the crowd, learning how to get the dance floor crankin’; and worked on fine tuning his skills and dexterity behind the decks. A relationship built on a solid foundation with Ambar saw him become their number one resident DJ over the ensuing 7 years.

Micah’s popularity with punters has been complemented over the years by his many accolades received, taking out Top Breakbeat DJ in the Perth Dance Music awards for the last 5 years, as well as being voted Western Australia’s number one DJ in the 2007 INTHEMIX Top 50 awards.

Displaying a keen willingness to be an active participant in the community, Micah co-hosts the Beat Suite, a weekly night at the Velvet Lounge showcasing local talent, as well as hosting his own radio show, Monday Full Frequency alongside another WA local, Ben Mac, on RTR FM 92.1 (3-5pm www.rtrfm.com.au).

Micah’s unabashed enthusiasm, energy and skills behind the decks have seen him become a Perth festival regular playing pretty much every festival that comes through Perth each year. Including over the years: Earthstomp, Global Dance, Sunshine People NYD, Innercity, Good Vibrations, Summerdayze, Two Tribes, Breakfest, Major Break and Parklife. December saw Micah earn himself a highly sought after and well earned late afternoon spot on the seven time award winning Breakfest main stage, alongside the likes of Q-bert, Lee Coombs, Stanton Warriors and the Plump DJs. An opportunity that has breakbeat DJs the world over clambering for.

The last 3 years have seen Micah play across Australia and New Zealand and land in the UK playing at Fabric Nightclub @ The Plump DJs Headthrash night in Aug 08, Timbuk 2 in Bristol, The White House and Platform 12 at Canvas Nightclub London and at the legendary Supercharged night in Brighton in 07 & 08.

Not content with only gigging, Micah has turned to production in recent years, knocking out a remix for local producer Lokey-fu released on Q-stik records, and 2007 saw Micah deliver a massive dance floor sensation alongside Australian Nick Thayer. ‘Scrambler’, out on Passenger Recordings (August ’07) received much acclaim and even got licensed to Hit US TV show CSI NY . And most recently in 2008 remixing Journeyman & Barrcode’s “No Exceptions” For Ho-Ju Records under the “Micah Black” moniker.

Micah had the task of turning it over to the broken beat. Immediately, the crowd responded and the set to ensue was full of funked up broken beats with plenty of break downs and build ups within the breaks stylee. Micahs blatant ability to work with the crowd as well as incorporating his own flavour at the same time was on display and in full effect; its no wonder he was voted in the poll as number two in W.A. Micahs solid mixes and an arsenal of killer tracks saw the ITM party massive go nuts on the dance floor, or anywhere in the club for that matter!

To finish off the night, local legends Micah and Lo Key Fu stepped up to the stage. Bringing with him his trademark sound of driving yet funky breaks, with ad-libbed bleeps and effects from Lo Key, Micah had the whole room to his attention. For the first time all night the pool tables were empty, as was much of the back half of the venue.

A very talented Dj/Producer who has been on the dance music scene here in Australia for many years and is sure to be one to look out for on the international scene in forthcoming months.

Romy Black is a Dj , producer and songwriter and general all round cheeky bugger.

Coming from a musical family background in classical flamenco and 70s & 80s rock, he soon found himself playing in a number of bands as a drummer and started spinning records in 1998. After a short stint as a turntablist for Jedison and a flurry of styles, he found his feet firmly in the dance genre and the Sydney club circuit having played at Home (Famous), Lepanic, Soho, The Metro , Moulin Rouge, Yu, Havana, Equlibrium, the civic and many more.

Romy’s first step into production landed his debut track ” Seduction” into the hit rating Channel 9 drama Underbelly, as well as a recent remix on Central Station Records “Stone Fox Chase” by House of Glass, which entered the aria charts!!

DOIT@THEDISCO is the follow up and a electro house cut with building synch stabs and driving beats, overlayed with a female vocal and vocoder swashes. This track with its very catchy hook and pulsating drive will connect with clubbers and general public alike.

With many releases since that have graced the top 100 on both DJ DOWNLOADS & BEATPORT.
